Dosatron Technology

Motor

The Hydraulic Motor

Piston Technology or Diaphragm Technology The motor piston or diaphragm moves under the pressure of the water. A system of valves or a slider allows the movement to be reversed. Each piston or diaphragm cycle corresponds to a predetermined volume of water which passes through the pump (motor volume). The speed of the motor varies proportionally with the flow of water. The dosing pump is called a Volumetric pump.
Assembly

The Dosing Assembly

The dosing piston driven by the motor continuously injects a fixed volume of product (adjustable capacity of the dosing body). The dosing piston will inject the quantity of product that corresponds to the volume of water passing through the motor. Therefore, the operating principle ensures constant dosing, independently of the variations in the flow rate and pressure of the water. The injection of the product is proportional to the water flow rate.
Safety

Safety

For Dosatron, the safety of its staff and its partners is a high priority. Action taken by the company’s Quality Safety Environment service is intended to prevent and control all risks on site and for the associated activity. All the company’s employees, regardless of their occupation and role, are the driving force behind, and are involved in the process. By carrying out an ergonomic study of the current situation, Dosatron has been able to design tailored tools and work stations, thereby reducing the severity of working conditions.
Eco

Eco-Design

By broadening the scope of it’s ISO 14001 certification and by integrating the activities of design and development, Dosatron can now pride itself on implementing a true ecodesign process. This step has allowed the company to understand the entire life cycle of its product and thus to find solutions to limit the associated environmental impact.
Qualiy

Quality

100% Of products tested. Monitoring and traceability of all parts and products assembled during the manufacturing process. A close and mutually beneficial partnership with Dosatron’s suppliers so as to ensure higher quality of purchased components. Visual and synthetic methods for monitoring production problems (delays, quality, maintenance of equipment, staff competence, etc.) in real time.

About Dosatron

Dosatron is the original inventor of the non-electric proportional dosing pump since 1974.

Dosatron technology is a passive volumetric dosing pump based on a water driven hydraulic motor piston pump activated only by pressure and flow of water without any electricity or any measuring device.

FAQ’s

There are three seal types available, and they fall into the following general categories.

VF = Recommended seals for acids, oils, odour-or pest control concentrates.

AF = Recommended seals for alkaline concentrate

HTAF = Recommended seals for strong alkalines

K = for highly concentrated acids (> 15 %)

If you are unsure provide a copy of the chemical MSDS and we can check which seal is recommended.

If your pump is not dosing, troubleshoot as follows:

  1. Check arrow on pump is pointing in the direction of flow.
  2. Check there is flow through the pump.
  3. Is the pump making the normal clicking noise? If not, then either the flow is out of range or the pressure is too high, or there is a problem with the pump motor, which will need inspection.
  4. If the pump is clicking normally, remove the suction hose and place your finger over the intake. You should feel suction on your finger. If you do and it is still not dosing, inspect your suction hose for damage, cut off the top 25-50mm of the suction hose and reinstall onto the pump.
  5. If no suction, or if weak, then the injector assembly seals need replacing (If a new installation, check the viscosity of the dosing solution).

It is recommended that the lower end seal kit be replaced every 12 months.

Dosatron provides a wide array of pumps based on construction, seals, dosing rates and flow rates. The information required is as follows:

  1. What is the application?
  2. What is the medium being pumped?
  3. What is the optimum flowrate?
  4. What is the chemical being pumped?
  5. What dose rate is required to be delivered?
  6. What is the environment that the pump will be in?

The water temperature operating range for Dosatron pumps is 5oC to 40oC

The dose rate of the Dosatron pump can be changed by rotating the black injection barrel on the lower assembly. There are 2 scales, one on either side. One shows % and the other shows Ratio. The lower assembly can be removed and rotated by 180 degrees so that the preferred scale is showing to the front. (Ensure the locating tabs are in the right place when screwing the collar back on)
